Alice B. Tullis (1851-1915) was born in Dayton, Indiana, and died in
Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from high school, she embarked on a career as an
educator, teaching at the Douglas School in Chicago, Illinois, from 1870 to 1883. Tullis
wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1885, asking for the name of a reputable Christian Science
practitioner in Chicago. In 1887, she married Daniel M. Lord and afterwards devoted her
life to public service, working for United Charities and the American Red Cross.
