Porter C. True (1824-1910) was born in Pittsfield, New Hampshire, and
died in Concord, New Hampshire. He was a shoemaker and a farmer of 200 acres of land he
inherited from his grandfather. He served as clerk of the Pittsfield school district and
was a member of the Unitarian church. He married Ursula A. True (b. Adams) in Pittsfield
in 1849. In 1886 he wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to order a copy of
Science
and Health with Key to the Scriptures. He authored a book entitled
Life on Tilton Hill, Pittsfield, N.H., 1788-1901.
