Sarah Tourjee (1833-1905) was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and died in
Newton, Massachusetts. She worked as a governess for Eben Tourjee, founder of the New
England Conservatory of Music, after the death of his first wife, Abbie, in 1867. She
married Tourjee in 1871. She was a trustee of the New England Conservatory of Music and
was active in its beneficent society. Tourjee joined The First Church of Christ,
Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 3, 1899.
