John F. Thompson (1844-1887) was born in New Jersey and died in Canton, Illinois. He was a farmer who wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in early 1886 to ask for information on studying Christian Science and Christian Science treatment through prayer. He also asked Eddy if she would take him as a patient. Her response is not extant.
