Ella E. Thayer (b. Willey) (1853-1919) was born in Belgrade, Maine, and died in Oakland, Maine. In 1878 she married Samuel J. Thayer in Oakland. He was a Civil War veteran who had served as a private in Company B, 21st Maine Infantry of the Union Army. He was employed as a scythe manufacturer and dealer and as a brickmason. Ella was a member of the Fidelity Club of the Free Baptist Church. In 1886 she wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to order a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
