Abigail "Abbie" C. Thayer (b. Learned) (1833-1905) was born Watertown, Massachusetts, and died in Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1875, she married Stephen O. Thayer, who was a carpenter, printer, and dealer in kitchen goods. In 1886, she wrote to Mary Baker Eddy about studying with her but ended up studying instead with Melissa J. Smith and Mary W. Munroe. Thayer became a member of the The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 3, 1899. She was also included in the membership lists of the Dispensary Association and the National Christian Scientists Association.
