Hosea E. Stone (1827-1913) was born in Hardwick, Massachusetts, and died
in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, studying with her
in September 1880. He joined the Christian Scientist Association in December 1880;
however, he never united with Eddy's church and appears to have dropped his association
with Christian Science sometime in 1884. He practiced successfully as a mental cure
doctor in and around Springfield from about 1881 until his passing.
