Frederick W. Steadley (1857-1928) was born in Galena, Illinois, and died in Carthage, Missouri. He moved to Carrollton, Missouri, around 1875. There he worked as a jeweler and married Mary H. Steadley (b. Darr) in 1881. He wrote to Mary Baker Eddy several times in the late 1880s to order copies of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Steadley later moved to Carthage, Missouri, with his family where he operated a jewelry store and then became involved with the marble industry.
