W. G. Spring (1827-1902) was born in Hiram, Maine, and died in Westbrook,
Maine. He was a merchant and director of the Fryeburg Horse Railroad Company. During the
Civil War, he served in Company K of the Maine 23rd Volunteer Infantry. Although he
expressed an interest in Christian Science, there is no record of him studying with Mary
Baker Eddy or uniting with the Church of Christ (Scientist).
