Jane H. Spofford (1826-1905) was born and died in Hampden, Maine. She was
the wife of Caleb W. Spofford, the proprietor of the Riggs House in Washington, D.C. She
was introduced to Christian Science by her husband's second cousin, Daniel H. Spofford,
a student of Mary Baker Eddy's who studied with her in 1875. There is no record of Jane
H. Spofford studying with Eddy or uniting with the Church of Christ (Scientist).
