Charles W. Soule (1850-1912) was born in Albany County, New York, and died in Webster, Iowa. As a boy, he sailed around the world with his parents, attended college in Honolulu, Hawaii, and worked at a wholesale firm in Syracuse, New York, before becoming a traveling salesman until 1874. That year, he married Alice M. Howard, and they moved west to Webster. He first owned a lumberyard before establishing a brick and tile yard in 1883. Soule wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1886 to order six copies of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. He was a charter member of the Webster Elks Lodge. Both his wife and mother, Gertrude A. Soule, were involved with Christian Science; however, based on the records available, we have found no further information concerning his involvement.
