Thomas J. Smith (1854-1913) was a lifelong resident of Columbus,
Wisconsin. He was a farmer and the younger brother of Mattie Williams, a student of Mary
Baker Eddy's. He became interested in Christian Science when he and his wife, Mary
Smith, received Christian Science treatment through prayer from Mattie Williams.
Although he expressed an interest in Christian Science, there is no record of him
studying with Mary Baker Eddy or uniting with the Church of Christ (Scientist).
