Joseph E. Sherrill (1852-1929) was born in Indiana and died in Long
            Beach, California. He was a Baptist minister who was pastor to four churches in the
            White Lick Association in Indiana. He also owned and operated The Normal Publishing
            House, which published educational and religious books and the teaching journal, 
The Normal Teacher. In early 1885, he became interested in Christian
            Science and wrote to Mary Baker Eddy, asking for information about Christian Scientists
            practicing in the Danville, Indiana, area.
