Phebe M. Shepard
Phebe M. Shepard (1852-1916) was born in Syracuse, New York, and died in
Yates Center, Kansas. She became interested in Christian Science in early 1886, writing
to Mary Baker Eddy to purchase a copy of Science and Health with Key to
the Scriptures. Shepard was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church before
she withdrew and joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts,
in June 1899. She remained a member until her passing.
