Frank W. Searle (1854-1923) was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, and died
in Portland, Maine. He wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1886, asking for information about
Christian Science treatment through prayer for his cousin in Putnam, Connecticut. Searle
married Janet Johnson in Portland in 1889. That same year, he graduated from Bowdoin
Medical School of Maine and worked as a physician. He was a superintendent of the Maine
Eye and Ear Infirmary and secretary of the Board of Registration in Medicine for many
years.
