May B. Samples (1868-1941) was born in Binghamton, New York, and died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She first married William D. Hubbard in Rochester, New York, in 1892. They divorced, and in 1911, she married John L. Samples. Samples joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 2, 1900. Although her mother, Delinda E. Brownell, was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, there is no record of Samples studying with Eddy. Samples was listed in the directory of The Christian Science Journal as a Christian Science practitioner from 1922 until her death.
