Mary Ruddock
Mary Ruddock (1818-1902) was born in West Newbury, Massachusetts, and
died in Lynn, Massachusetts. She was the mother of Harriet Carr and mother-in-law of
Oren Carr. She was a charter member of the Church of Christ (Scientist); however, there
are no records extant that show she studied with Mary Baker Eddy or was a member of the
Christian Scientist Association. Her name disappears from the Church records shortly
after it was chartered, so it appears that she left the Christian Science movement at
about that time.
