Eliza J. Root (b. Miller) (1852-1905) was born in Ohio and died in
Spokane, Washington. In 1877 she married Wayland L. Root, a banker and broker, in Bay
City, Michigan. In about 1887 Root moved to Spokane where her husband became a real
estate agent. In 1886 she wrote to Mary Baker Eddy to order a copy of
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. She joined The First Church of
Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on January 6, 1894.
