Lydia A. Richards (1844-1933) was born in Columbus, Ohio, and died in
Elgin, Illinois. She married George W. Hawkins, a watchmaker, in Faribault, Minnesota,
in 1891. Richards wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1886 for permission to act as an agent
selling the sixteenth edition of
Science and Health with Key to the
Scriptures. She was a student of Silas J. Sawyer's, a student of Eddy's.
Although she expressed an interest in studying with Eddy, there is no record of her
doing so.
