He became interested in Christian Science after reading Mary Baker Eddy's book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Reynolds was a student of Eddy's, completing the Primary class in May 1887. He became a member of the Christian Scientist Association in June 1887. In August 1887, Eddy offered Reynolds free admission to her Primary, Normal, Obstetrics, and Theology courses as long as he agreed that afterwards he would give up all other business to take up the field of Christian Science work and also assist her with teaching upon request. Although Reynolds completed the Primary class again in November 1887, there is no record of him taking any of the others. Reynolds continued to practice as a physician into the 20th century.
