Alice M. Raymond (b. Merrill) (1865-1938) was born in Chicago and died in Los Angeles. In 1889, she married George E. "Jack" Raymond Jr. of New York. He was a bartender, became a manager of Lyceum musical hall artists, and then managed Orpheum circuit theaters and the Los Angeles Orpheum Theater until 1923. Raymond sang in Florenz Ziegfeld's Chicago ladies quartet, and she toured the United States and Europe with them, first as Alice Miller then as Alice M. Raymond. Later, she sang opera and performed in some of Ziegfeld's stage shows. In 1886, Raymond wrote to Mary Baker Eddy, seeking a recommendation for a Christian Science teacher in Chicago.
