Joseph Rathfon (1831-1891) was born in Pennsylvania and died in Logansport, Indiana. He was a Civil War veteran who served in the 4th Battery of the Indiana Light Artillery. Rathfon became interested in Christian Science in 1885, after studying issues of The Christian Science Journal. Later, in 1886, he ordered a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
