
E. Mary Ramsay (1863-1951) was born in Roxburgh, Scotland, and died in
Edinburgh, Scotland. Ramsay was introduced to Christian Science by her stepmother, Lady
Charlotte F. Ramsay, who had experienced healing by reading a copy of Science and Health
with Key to the Scriptures. She joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston,
Massachusetts, on June 4, 1898. Along with her sister, Charlotte L. Ramsay, Ramsay
visited Mary Baker Eddy at her Pleasant View home in Concord, New Hampshire, in August
1899. In November 1899, Ramsay helped organize First Church of Christ, Scientist,
Edinburgh, Scotland, where she was at one point President. In 1901, at the invitation of
Eddy, Ramsay, her stepmother and her sister took the Normal class taught by Edward A.
Kimball in the Board of Education of The First Church of Christ, Scientist. As Committee
on Publication for the East of Scotland, she was author of the book
Christian Science and Its Discoverer (1923), a biography of Eddy. Ramsay was
listed in the directory of
The Christian Science Journal as a
Christian Science teacher and practitioner in Edinburgh from 1902-1948.
