W. H. (William H.) Putnam (1830-1902) was born in Wilton, New Hampshire,
and died in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a Civil War veteran who served in Company F of
1st Battalion, Massachusetts Heavy Artillery. After the war, he worked as a clerk at
Shepard, Norwell and Company, a department store in Boston. Although he expressed an
interest in Christian Science, there is no record of him studying with Mary Baker Eddy
or uniting with the Church of Christ (Scientist).
