Emily E. Powers (c. 1849-1917) was born in Ohio and died in Iowa. She worked as a school teacher and principal in Clinton, Iowa. She married Harry R. Belding in Clinton in 1886, and they moved to Syracuse, New York. After her husband's death in 1888, Powers moved back to Clinton. She was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church and sang in the choir for 15 years. Julia M. Burnham, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, wrote to Eddy in 1886, requesting a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures for Powers.
