Caroline M. Poor (1855-1919) was born in Derby, Vermont, and died in
Boston, Massachusetts. She studied with Mary Baker Eddy in October and joined the Church
of Christ (Scientist) in December of 1881. Poor also conducted some Sunday services for
the Church at her home at 95 Main Street in Charlestown, Massachusetts, at the beginning
of 1882, while Mary Baker Eddy was visiting Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. Poor's husband, George, was the music director for the Church during this
time and her daughter, Georgietta, was the pianist. Poor appears to have drifted away
from the Christian Science movement in the spring of 1883.
