Paul Plunkett (1881-1940) was born and died in Detroit, Michigan. He was
a financier and the youngest child of John J. and Mary H. Plunkett. Shortly after his
parents divorced, he emigrated to New Zealand along with his mother and sister, Perl. He
later returned to the United States where he was educated at Peekskill Military Academy,
Peekskill, New York. After the death of his father in 1914, he worked in Boston,
Massachusetts, investing the money left to him by his father. In 1940, while employed as
the vice-president of Solventol Chemical Products, he committed suicide, with newspapers
reporting that he had been struggling financially.
