Katherine "Kate" S. Peirce (b. Switzer) (1853-1936) was born in New York and died in Pennsylvania. In 1873, Kate married William C. Peirce who was described variously as lampmaker, stock broker, worker in a tanning mill or planing mill, and lumber merchant. Peirce studied with Mary Baker Eddy's student, J. Allen Campbell, before Eddy's Primary class in 1886. In 1887, she wrote to Eddy that she was taking patients and wanted to work with fellow Christian Scientist Sarah A. Pine. In 1888, Peirce paid her quarterly dues for membership to the Christian Science Association but asked to have her name withdrawn and her membership was dropped due to distance and non-attendance.
