Sarah B. Patterson (1840-1911) was born and died in Concord, New Hampshire. She married Joab N. Patterson, a United States Marshal, in 1867. Her father was Reverend Nathaniel Bouton, pastor of First Congregational Church in Concord, New Hampshire, who baptized Mary Baker Eddy when she was a child and was a frequent guest to their family home in Bow, New Hampshire. Eddy wrote to Patterson about her love for Reverend Bouton and the church of her youth, indicating that the religion he taught "was the vestibule of Christian Science." There is no record of Patterson studying with Eddy or joining The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.
