E.A. Orne (1854-1932) was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts, and spent
the majority of his life in Charlestown and Boston, Massachusetts. He was a student of
Mary Baker Eddy's, studying with her in the summer of 1879. He helped Eddy obtain a
charter for the Church of Christ (Scientist) and served as Clerk from the Church's
incorporation until July 1881. He resigned his membership from the Church and the
Christian Scientist Association in 1884, although he had been inactive for several
years.
