Marilla R. Nutter (1849-1920) was born in Franklin, New Hampshire, and
died in Brentwood, New Hampshire. She joined the Church of Christ (Scientist) on
February 8, 1885. Nutter was a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, completing Primary class in
November 1885 and Normal class in February 1886. She graduated from the College of
Physicians and Surgeons in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1891, and practiced as an
allopathic physician in Boston, Massachusetts, and Riverdale, Maryland. Nutter married
Justin F. Simonds in Boston in 1894. She was a member of the United Order of the Golden
Cross, a benefit society.
