Susan M. Nixon (1830-1903) (b. French) was born in North Carolina and
died in Maryland. She was listed as a piano teacher at the Wilmington Institute in
Wilmington, North Carolina, in 1860. In 1861, she married Erastus D. Nixon in New
Hanover, North Carolina. He worked as a salesman at Geo. R. French & Sons, her
father's boot and shoe repair business in Wilmington. By 1870, the couple had moved to
Baltimore, Maryland. Nixon's brother, Charles E. French, wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in
1886 to order her a copy of
Science and Health with Key to the
Scriptures. Nixon was a member of the First Baptist Church.
