Francis D. Newcomb (c. 1836-1884) was born in New York and died in Taunton, Massachusetts. He worked as a lumber dealer. He married Sarah A. Newcomb (b. Blood) in Taunton in 1866. She passed away in 1875. In 1880, he married Maria B. C. Newcomb (b. Coombs), who later pioneered the establishment of Christian Science in Taunton. In the early 1880s, he received Christian Science treatment through prayer from Sarah H. Crosse, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's.
