Marcellus Munroe

Marcellus Munroe (1834-1911) was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, and died in Newton, Massachusetts. He started his career as a clerk and bookkeeper and later became an auditor. He married Mary W. Munroe (b. Blodgett) in Somerville in 1858. They both took the Primary class with Mary Baker Eddy in January 1883. Mary went on to take Eddy's Normal and Obstetrics classes and became a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science. In the late 1880s the Munroes moved to Boston, Massachusetts, and in 1889 Marcellus became one of the Trustees, along with Alfred Lang and William G. Nixon, who held the title to the lot of land in Boston upon which the edifice of The First Church of Christ, Scientist was to be built.
