Oscar B. Mowry (1840-1911) was born in Smithfield, Rhode Island, and died
            in Brookline, Massachusetts. He graduated from Brown University in 1863 and from Harvard
            Law School in 1865. After being admitted to the bar in 1866, he worked as a lawyer and
            was chairman of the Brookline Water Board for twenty years. He married Georgiana J.
            Mowry (b. Goodwin) in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1879. Mowry was a member of Trinity
            Church, Boston, the Riverdale Casino, the Men's Club of Brookline, and the Boston Bar
            Association.
