Gideon Morse (c.1767-1833) was born in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, and died
in Bow, New Hampshire. He married Mary "Molley" Emerson in Douglas, Massachusetts, in
1789. Morse opened and operated a popular tavern in Bow from 1807 to 1830. Mary Baker
Eddy recollected to Irving C. Tomlinson that she was named after Morse's wife.
