Ezekiel Morrill

Ezekiel Morrill (1837-1908) was born in Chester, Ohio, and died in Concord, New Hampshire. He was a first cousin once removed of Mary Baker Eddy, as his mother, Hannah M. Baker, was Mary Baker Eddy's first cousin. His father, Alpheus Morrill, advised Eddy on homeopathy. Like his father, Morrill was also a homeopathic physician. He graduated from the Medical College of Cleveland, Ohio, in 1856 and first practiced with Alpheus in Concord, New Hampshire. Morrill also practiced in Brattleboro, Vermont, and Salem, Massachusetts, for some years. He was a veteran of the American Civil War, starting as assistant surgeon of the 13th New Hampshire Infantry, and he was promoted in 1865 to surgeon of the 1st Heavy Artillery. He married Ellen R. Morrill (b. Bryant) in 1863. According to Eddy, Morrill was the first M.D. in New Hampshire who was favorable to Christian Science. He was a member of the New Hampshire Homeopathic Medical Society and was a member of the Freemasons.
