Alice G. McRae (b. Wiltse) (1852-1929) was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and died in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. In 1871 she married Hector C. McRae, a dry goods clerk who had immigrated to the United States from Canada in 1869. He later worked in a flour mill and then became a government employee. They divorced sometime after 1910. McRae was an artist, musician, and teacher. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In 1886 McRae was sent a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by her acquaintance, Mary C. Swift. She subsequently studied Christian Science with Laura C. Nourse, a student of Mary Baker Eddy's, and joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, on June 2, 1900.
