Sarah A. McManus
Sarah A. McManus (b. Calvert) (1841-1887) was born in Canada and died in
Rochester, Minnesota. She married Jerome S. McManus in Rochester in 1863. In the spring
of 1878, the family opened the McManus House in Worthington, Minnesota. McManus wrote to
Mary Baker Eddy in 1886 to order a copy of Science and Health with Key
to the Scriptures and asked for Christian Science treatment through prayer
from Eddy. Eddy, however, was no longer accepting patients because she was devoting her
time to writing and teaching others to heal.
