Joseph B. (Joseph Burbridge) McCullagh (1842-1896) was born in Dublin,
Ireland, and died in St. Louis, Missouri. He was editor of the
St.
Louis Globe-Democrat from 1875 until 1896. He is considered one of the most
influential newspaper editors of his time, and he is credited with being the first
person to interview a sitting President of the United States when he interviewed
President Andrew Johnson in 1867.
