James S. McCoy (1842-?) was born in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, and died in an unknown location. He was an 1865 graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and became pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Tombstone, Arizona. He married Mabel L. Hodgkins in New York, New York, in 1882. They moved to Tombstone and eventually divorced after a few years.
