Harvey Lupher (1852-1894) was born in Canal, Pennsylvania, and died in
Montrose, Colorado. His father was a wagonmaker, and Lupher began his career as his
father's apprentice. In about 1879 he married Melvina Lupher (b. Pollock) in Venango
County, Pennsylvania, and they lived in Canal until at least 1882. They moved to
Montrose by the mid-1880s, where Lupher worked as a carriage builder. In 1886, he wrote
to Mary Baker Eddy to order a copy of
Science and Health with Key to
the Scriptures.
