Maria L. Lumpkin (1832-1901) was born in Alabama and died in Atlanta, Georgia. She married William W. Lumpkin, an elocution professor, in Alabama in 1852. She was a member of the Central Presbyterian church and was active in the church community. Lumpkin wrote to Mary Baker Eddy in 1886, asking for information about Christian Science treatment through prayer for her son.
