James Lloyd (1728-1810) was born on Long Island, New York, and died in
Boston, Massachusetts. He was a physician who studied in Stratford, Connecticut, and
London, England, before practicing in Boston. During the Revolutionary War, he was a
moderate Loyalist who remained in Boston during the Siege of Boston. His son, James
Lloyd (1769-1831), twice served as a United States Senator for Massachusetts.
