Edward A. Libby (1839-1908) was born in Gorham, Maine, and died in
Portland, Maine. Libby worked for many years in the shoe factories along the Salmon
Falls River on the border between New Hampshire and Maine. In the early 1880s, he left
the factories and began to work as a metaphysician. He moved to Portland, Maine, in the
late 1880s and continued his metaphysical healing practice until his passing. There is
no record of Libby studying with Mary Baker Eddy or uniting with the Church of Christ
(Scientist).
