William C. Lester (1854-1891) was born in Eddyville, Kentucky, and died in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. From a young age he was confined to the Western Kentucky Asylum for the Insane, now known as the Western State Hospital. In 1885 his brother, John D. Lester, wrote to Mary Baker Eddy, asking for information on Christian Science treatment through prayer for William.
