John D. Lester (1848-1929) was born in Eddyville, Kentucky, and died in
Arlington, Texas. He became interested in Christian Science after studying issues of
The Christian Science Journal. In 1885 he wrote to Mary Baker
Eddy, asking for information on Christian Science treatment through prayer for his
brother, William C. Lester.
