Harriet A. Leonard (c.1827-1907) was born in New York and died in Manitou
Springs, Colorado. She was a doctor who graduated with a medical degree from the College
of Physicians and Surgeons, Keokuk, Iowa (today known as the Carver College of Medicine
at the University of Iowa). She went on to practice medicine in Denver and Manitou
Springs, Colorado, and became interested in Christian Science while living in Denver.
Leonard spent most of her career practicing in Manitou Springs, where she was the
resident physician and later, proprietor of the Manitou Bath House. Despite expressing
an interest in Christian Science, there is no record of Leonard studying with Mary Baker
Eddy.
