Emma Lees (1863-1899) was born in England and died in Fall River, Massachusetts. Her parents were John Lees and Frances B. Lees (b. Walmsley), and her sister was Mary L. Hillson (b. Lees). The family emigrated to the United States in the 1860s. In 1880, they were living in Rhode Island and 17-year-old Emma was already working in the cotton mill with her father, John. By 1886, they were in Fall River, Massachusetts, when Hillson wrote to Mary Baker Eddy that she, her parents and Emma, would like to join the Christian Science church. Emma Lees joined The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, in April 1895.
