Lancaster married Malinda J. Stone, a Christian Science practitioner and student of Mary Baker Eddy's, in 1864. Although his wife was heavily involved in the Christian Science movement, there is no record of Lancaster studying with Mary Baker Eddy or joining The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.
